NTC Future Star Scholarship Regulations

Ⅰ. Purpose:

Nanya Technology Corporation(NTC) established the scholarship in order to encourage students in academic research and semiconductor studies. We hope outstanding students will continue devoting themselves to innovative technology and pursuing goals in the semiconductor field.

Ⅱ. Application Period:

Sep 18th to Oct. 13th, 2023. Late application will not be accepted.

Ⅲ. Eligibility: An applicant must meet the following criteria             

1. Subject: College/University students in junior year or above, including master and Ph.D. program (excluding division of continuing education, in-service program, in-service credit program).​

2. School/Major: National Universities (including university of science and technology), Chang Gung University, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, and Ming Chi University of Technology. Major in electrical, electronics, optoelectronics, materials, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering. information engineering, and other related majors.

3. Grade:

(1) Academic Performance: Academic scores with 80 or above and have passed all academic subjects in the previous academic year.

(2) Conduct Grade: Grade with 75 or above in the previous academic year; no demerits recorded during the school year.

4. Those who have not been selected or shortlisted with the same paper.

5. Those who have not received other scholarships of NTC.

6. Those who is available to attend the award ceremony.

Ⅳ. Desirable Features:

Applicants' research papers or articles are related to the fields of Innovation in the Smart Age, Semiconductors, or Memory will be given additional points.

Ⅴ. Content:                                                                          

Scholarship Quotas: 3 for Bachelor's degree, 3 for Master's degree, 3 for Ph.D.'s degree; the final scholarship quotas will be determined by the application situation.

PhD group
"Gold Award" NTD90,000 per student.
"Silver Award" NTD75,000 per student.
"Bronze Award" NTD50,000 per student.
" Nomination Award " NTD10,000 per student.


Master group
"Gold Award" NTD50,000 per student.
"Silver Award" NTD30,000 per student.
"Bronze Award"  NTD20,000 per student.

" Nomination Award " NTD5,000 per student.


Bachelor group
"Gold Award"NTD20,000 per student.
"Silver Award" NTD15,000 per student.
"Bronze Award" NTD10,000 per student.

" Nomination Award " NTD5,000 per student.

Ⅵ. Application Documents:

The application materials shall be merged into a single PDF file (less than 15MB) in the following order.

*marked as non-required.

1. Proof of Identity: Photocopy of the student identity card and ID card, two sides is required.Transcript:

2. Original transcript of the previous academic year (including academic and conduct grades).

3. Autobiography: At least 800 words and the content must include pros and cons, future goals, etc.

4. Research Paper/Case Study: Creative ideas in the semiconductor industry are highly desirable.

5. Other Supporting Evidence*: Photocopy of supporting evidence, such as awards, research papers,journals, certificates, English transcript, etc.

Instructions

The file name format is "OO Group_OOO UniversityOOO Department_Your Name"

For example: PhD Group_National Taiwan University Institute of Electronic Engineering_Your Name.

Those who do not follow This format or the data is unclear and cannot be identified will be disqualified. Eligibility without notice.

Ⅶ. Selection Process:

Phase I: Paper review

Phase II : Oral exam

We will arrange an oral exam which consist of 20-minute presentation and10-minute Q&A section. Those who are enrolled in Phase II are eligible for the Nomination Award. The judges will then select the winners for the "Gold Award", "Silver Award" and "Bronze Award."

Ⅷ. Evaluation standard:

Phase I (paper): 40%

  • The purpose of the Research (20%)

  • Creativity (20%)

  • Quality of the article (20%)

  • The result of the research (20%)

  • Semiconductor implementation value(20%)

 

Phase II (oral): 60%

  • Slides: Information is clear and structured (20%)

  • Presentation:

    • Presentation skill and responding to questions (20%)

    • Professional knowledge and capability (20%)

  • Semiconductor implementation value: Contribution to the semiconductor field (20%)

  • Future potential: Future possibility through cultivation (20%)

Ⅸ. Schedule:
  1. The scholarship winners will receive the scholarship within three months after the public scholarship winner announcement. The bank account provided for us should be the applicants’ account. If not, the candidates will be disqualified without notification.​

  2. NTC will notify the winners to receive the award at a given time to make a public announcement. If the
    respond is overdue, it will be deemed to be voluntarily abandoned and will no longer be accepted. The
    winner list will be announced on our website and social media platforms. The award ceremony will be held
    with further notice.

Ⅹ. Others:
  1. If any matters are not mentioned in the regulations, they will be discussed according to the situation in each case.

  2. All submitted materials should not infringe the rights of others. Applicants will be held legally responsible for any violations.

  3. The scholarship is accounted for as other income. The Company is not required to withhold and remit tax for the scholarship. NTC will follow the Income Tax Act to issue non-withholding tax statements for applicants to file for personal income tax.
